6 Creative Ways to Afford a Home

Think you can't afford a home of your own? Read on to discover some creative ways to make it happen:

1. Investigate local, state, and national down payment assistance programs. These programs give qualified applicants loans or grants to cover all or part of your required down payment. National programs include the Nehemiah program, www.getdownpayment.com, and the American Dream Down Payment Fund from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, www.hud.gov.

2. Explore seller financing. In some cases, sellers may be willing to finance all or part of the purchase price of the home and let you repay them gradually, just as you would do with a mortgage.

CENTURY 21 Sbarra & Wells was able to collect a large amount of non-perishables to donate to the Broome County CHOW program for Thanksgiving. Everything from stuffing and mashed potatoes to corn and green beans was donated by our agents and staff in hopes of making area families' Thanksgiving meals a little brighter!

The Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW), through its network of 30 food pantries located in Broome County Congregations and over 30 soup kitchens and community meal programs, distributes over 130,000 pounds of food each month.
