Thinking of becoming a Real Estate Agent?
The Basics
- You must be 18 years of age at the time you apply
- Successfully completed a Department of State approved 45 hour qualifying course with a Certification of Satisfactory Completion (60 hours combined Real Estate Fundamentals & Practice for PA)
- Be sponsored by a licensed real estate broker
Once you have become a licensed real estate person, you must also join your local Board of Realtors in order to call yourself a REALTOR as well as to have access to the multiple listing service.
Choosing a Broker
When getting your Real Estate license in New York or Pennsylvania, you will be required to work for a principal broker. As a Realtor, this decision will be critical to your success. Look for a broker that has a strong presence in the market as well as tools and systems in place to help you achieve your goals.
Here are a few things to consider:
- Individualized training that is available for the length of your career.
- Brokers that are available and work for their agents
- Marketing that gets results
- Support when you need it
